Pro Golf Update: June 2016

Silverado Resort North Course

I wanted to provide a quick update on my golf endeavors over the last few months, as well as what I have planned for the summer months ahead.

After playing in Mackenzie Tour (aka PGA Tour Canada) qualifying in late April, we spent some time traveling up the California coast.  Though I didn’t compete in any pro golf events during this time, I continued to practice and play on a frequent basis.

Southern California

Here’s a quick look at some of the courses I spent a bit of  time at over those weeks.

Ruby Hills Country Club / Pleasanton, CA — A Jack Nicklaus design, this great layout winds it’s way through the Livermore Wine Valley and has breathtaking elevated views of the local vineyards.

TPC Harding Park / San Francisco, CA — A city-owned municipal course, Harding Park has played host to a number of elite tour events (i.e. 2007 President’s Cup, 2014 WGC Match Play).  A fun layout certainly worth playing in the Bay area.

San Francisco Golf

Cypress Lakes Golf Club / Vacaville, CA — Hopefully you’ve been working on the stinger given winds that routinely blow at 30-40mph in the summer afternoons.  Located near Travis Air Force base, the course has great greens and is a value play for anyone in the area.

Silverado Resort & Spa (North Course) / Napa, CA – As host to the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open, the North Course boasts tree lined fairways, pristine conditions and quick greens.  Read more about my experience at the course and property here.

Safeway Open

In early June, we made the 3,000+ mile trip back from Northern California to the East coast.  On the way, we decided to make a quick detour to visit some friends (and play some golf, of course) in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Grand Tetons

It turned out to be one of my favorite spots we visited.  With epic mountain views, crisp fresh air, and a delightful downtown, what’s not to like?  We explored Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and played a round of golf at the beautiful Teton Pines Country Club (blog post coming soon). If not for the 450+ inches of snowfall they receive each year, I wouldn’t mind calling it home!

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

We arrived in the Carolinas a few weeks ago, where we’ll call home for the majority of the summer months. I’ll resume pro golf tournament play in the next few weeks, and will be playing primarily on the GPro Tour.  Stay tuned for updates on tournament play this summer!
