As much as I love stylish golf apparel, I’m equally as passionate about looking dapper off-the-course, too. And while a performance trouser and well-fitting polo is more than sufficient for your golf rounds, it’s not always the best choice of attire when you’re not teeing it up.
Last week I attended the PGA Show in Orlando. It’s the equivalent of the golf industry’s super bowl, where companies big and small each showcase their latest and greatest equipment and apparel, or whatever product it is they’ve created (you see some crazy stuff there). Though I did pack that aforementioned trouser / polo combo for a few rounds of golf in Florida, my belief that we should always look our best (there’s no such thing as being overdressed) led me to reach for a jacket, tie and of course, some great shoes for the big event. When you’re meeting people you work with (or want to work with), it’s always important to put your best foot forward.
Though most of The Dapper Drive style section covers on-course style, I’ll periodically share some off-course looks to help elevate your non-golf wardrobe. After all, being dapper certainly transcends the golf course.
Below are my three looks for the PGA Show, where I decided to break-up suits I own and pair the jackets with separate trousers. Choosing jacket and trouser colors that contrasted one another made for eye-catching outfits, while adding a tie helped to refine each look. As always, a pair of well-shined shoes go a long way, too.
