Dapper Travel Diaries: Week 16 – Hello Virginia

This was our last week in Brittany’s hometown for awhile. The first part of the week was spent wrapping things up like doctors appointments, putting things in storage and visiting friends and family. The last part of the week was spent exploring the Virginia mountains, golf, and wineries. Here’s a quick recap of the week!

Day 104 – Slow day

We’re still parked in my mom’s driveway for a few more days to visit with friends and family. We took another little trip to my favorite place back home, the Riverwalk!

Day 105 – Bye for awhile

We are heading back on the road in 2 days, but there are lots of things to do in between now and then. So I started running around town, saying ‘bye’ to everyone since we probably won’t be back home for awhile 🙁 And we had a few visitors to see the RV for the first time!

Day 106 – Slumber party (not in the RV!)

These are two of my best friends. I’ve known them both since diapers. One lives an hour from home and the other moved to Cali. Since we were both in town this week, I took a break from the RV and we drove South to have a good ole girls slumber party! We brought a little house warming present since it’s the first time we’ve all been to her house together! Jordan held down the RV fort back at my mom’s house!

Day 107 – On the road again

We hit the road today for Virginia. But first, we had doctors appointments for yearly check-ups (because that is really important!) And look what we added to the mix while we were home… BIKES!! My mom helped us find everything so we could be a little more mobile when we’re parked for awhile. She’s the best!

Day 108 – Mountain golf and burgers

Our first round of golf in Virginia to Hot Springs, a small town nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains. We spent the night in the parking lot and were welcomed in the morning by the nicest staff ever! After the round, we showered up (because showers in the locker room are always better and easier than showers in the RV) and headed out on a 2-hour drive toward Charlottesville. We usually cook, but that thin mountain air had us feeling like a little food pit stop was necessary … especially when we saw the cutest little, unsuspecting burger and shake joint.

Day 109 – Rainy parking lot day

We had plans to go to the wineries, but it poured rain all day. So, we decided to run a few errands and chill in Walmart getting work done. We weren’t the only ones, as this Walmart was hoppin’ with trucks and RVs! We were also low on water, so and we found a nearby gas station to fill up for showers and washing dishes. Ahh yes, the glamour of life on the road!

Day 110 – Hiking at the winery

The rain let up temporarily, so we headed for Delouse Winery, where they have free overnight parking for members of Harvest Hosts. They also have hiking trails so we took Miss Ella on an afternoon hike before enjoying a little wine tasting and relaxing.

Now that we’ve left my hometown, there will be a lot more travel stories coming your way! This week we’ll be continuing our travels all around the heart of VA.
